A MUM bravely got in to the hairdressers chair to support two important charities.

As reported in the Echo, Chelsea Capaldi, 26, headed to Blondz salon in Weymouth and had her hair shaved to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She also donated her long locks to the Little Princess Trust that provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

The mum from Weymouth bravely got under scissors and the shearers to help support the two charities.

She was doing the shave after her friend Rebecca suffered from cancer and she told Chelsea that Macmillan had been a great support for her so she decided to do her bit.

One of Chelsea's main worries was her four-year-old daughter and how she would react but fortunately there was no reason to be concerned.

Chelsea said: "It was fine. When it was done, my daughter didn't react. She did tell me she was really proud of me."

As well as online JustGiving, Chelsea has had a registration form through which she has been raising money.

Her fundraising is now coming up to £700 and friend Rebecca went along to the salon on the day to support her.

Macmillan's Brave the Shave campaign is designed to stand proudly alongside people suffering from cancer.

People suffering from cancer can go through hair loss and changes to their appearance so the campaign shows solidarity while also raising important funds for the work that Macmillan do.

It has already raised more than half a million pounds around the country for the work that Macmillan does.

Macmillan believes that nobody should face cancer alone and provides support from the moment someone is diagnosed throughout treatment and beyond.

Alongside this, the effects of losing hair due to cancer can be especially upsetting to young cancer sufferers so the Little Princess Trust aims to support them.

It works with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers to provide wigs tailored to an individual child's needs and gives them a realistic new look and feel.

Chelsea's hair will go towards helping young cancer sufferers.
