A POUNDBURY estate agent is delighted to have won the Estate Agent of the Year (Best in the County) Award.

Meyers Estate Agents, located in Queen Mother Square, was handed the award at the Property Sharing Experts Gala Awards 2016 ceremony.

The single office estate agency was also a finalist in three other categories: Best Customer Service (Office) Award, Community Charity Award by a Company and Expert Branch (Sales) Award.

Established in 2011, Meyers is a family run business owned and managed by Mark and Claire Meyer, who have more than 20 years’ experience in the property industry.

Mark said: “We are thrilled to have made it as a finalist in four of the 10 categories in the awards – it’s a brilliant achievement and we’re very proud, particularly to have won the title of Estate Agent of the Year for Dorset. We’re all chuffed to bits.”

Estate agents from across the west country were presented with exclusive etched glass trophies in recognition of various achievements at the prestigious annual awards ceremony held at Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club in Devon. More than 150 guests from the 80 member offices of the network filled the elegant Greg Norman suite.

The event was hosted by Alan Dedicoat, the BBC presenter probably best known as ‘the voice of the balls’ on the National Lottery programme and as the voice over in Strictly Come Dancing, who had the guests in stitches with his playful banter and mischievous one-liners.

Guests also made donations to Children’s Hospice South West, the chosen charity for 2016. The total amount raised is £526.71, which will soon be on its way to the charity.

Ray Casling, the network’s business development director, said: “The event was superb, Alan Dedicoat was just marvellous and it is fantastic that we have raised more than £500 for Children’s Hospice South West.

“It’s the second time we’ve held a Gala Awards Ceremony instead of a conference.

“Our agents are all hard-working and we’re pleased to give them some recognition for their successes and achievements as well as the chance to let their hair down and have some fun together while doing some serious business networking. It’s a hugely popular event.”

Other Dorset finalists in the awards included Fortnam Smith and Banwell in Charmouth and Real Estate Bureau on Portland.
