Why not don a wacky hair do to raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust?

As part of the upcoming Hospice Care Week, commencing Monday, October 3, Weldmar Hospicecare is urging people across the county to wear their hair wild.

On Friday, October 7, Weldmar is encouraging schools, clubs and organisations across Dorset to get involved in the day.

Now in its sixth year, the annual event has so far raised over £5,000 for the charity.

Diane Bentley, Weldmar’s Community Fundraiser for south Dorset said "It is a really easy event to get involved in. We ask people who are taking part to pay £1 for the privilege to let their hair down for the day.

"It is a great way to support your local hospice and have some fun at the same time.

"You could encourage your colleagues or school friends to wear a mullet, be inspired by Tina Turner or wear a wig for each colour of the rainbow."

Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is a palliative care charity that provide specialist care for people suffering from cancer and similar life threatening diseases.

Communications officer Chris Davies said: "Patients in north, south and west Dorset have a seamless service, whether they require care and advice in the comfort of their own homes, in the Wellbeing Centres or the inpatient unit at Joseph Weld Hospice.

"They need to raise over £10,000 every single day to pay for their services, and could not do this without the support of the people of Dorset.”

Hospice Care Week is an annual week of celebration and activities held to raise the profile and change perceptions of hospice care across the UK.

To get involved, sign up online at www.weld-hospice.org.uk/wackyhair or call the fundraising team on 01305 261800.

Participants will receive a fundraising pack with everything required for the day.
