TWO former students who have found sporting success returned to their old school to open its new fitness centre.

As reported n the Echo, Wey Valley School, in Weymouth, has had a new £160,000 fitness studio installed over the summer.

The fitness centre has now had its official opening with two former students doing the honours.

Rebecca Raybould and Alex Jolliffe are both former students and are part of the Team GB cycle team.

The fitness centre boasts state-of-the-art equipment.

Students have already had the chance to make the most of the new facilities.

Marie Claridge, head of PE at Wey Valley, said: “Our students have really taken to the new fitness studio and gym. With the bigger space and such a range of cardio and weight resistance kit, we now have a full lunchtime as well as after school sessions of gifted and talented and fitness classes.

“I am positive that the new fitness facilities will have a great impact on our student’s health, energy and learning at the school.”

The facilities are available to be used by the community. Wey Valley principal, Sara Adams, said: “It has been a great start to the school year with our PE team showcasing these fantastic facilities.

“The school is grateful for the support and the partnership with 3d Health and Fitness and the health and fitness opportunities now available to our students, staff and the wider community”.
