SONGWRITERS will be showcasing their talent on an evening in The Old Town Hall, Weymouth, on Friday.

Rob Ryan, Edd Bleach and David Gordon, who make up RED, will be playing a set of their own songs from 8.30pm until 11pm at the historic venue.

David said: "Since I moved to Weymouth from Manchester almost two years ago I have been subverting the local Open Mic scene by playing my own songs when just about everyone else stuck to covers. But the idea seems to be catching on and I’ve teamed up with two fine Weymouth musicians to put on this songwriters’ showcase

"If the night goes well we plan to make it a regular event with the three of us taking it in turns to host showcase performances by other invited local songwriters at this great venue.

"We're hoping there might be a few readers there to enjoy a night of fine, original music by Weymouth songwriters."

Doors open at 8pm and the music begins at 8.30pm. There will be a bar and admission is £2.
