YOUNGSTERS living in the west Dorset village of Frampton got together as the first meeting of a new youth club was held.

Organisers are delighted that the new club has become a reality and hope the monthly meetings in the village will go from strength to strength.

More than 20 children played on a giant bouncy castle, made use of the Xbox and took the opportunity to chat to each other.

There was also a tuck shop where they could by drinks and snacks during the afternoon.

Anna Balistrari, who is the Frampton youth leader, said: “Many other local villages have clubs such as Brownies or Scouts for the children to take part in, but Frampton has no formal youth groups like that for them.

“The lack of buses means they cannot easily take advantage of clubs in Dorchester or other villages.

“We’re really pleased that we are up and running after months of hard work and it was really good to see children from neighbouring villages coming along.”

Rebecca Antram, aged 12, was one of the children who came along.

She said: “There’s not much other social stuff for children in the village so I wanted to take advantage of this. I’ve got friends here and it’s good fun.”

Anna added that the club was very grateful to local organisations for the donations they had made including Dorchester Lions, which had donated £17,5 and Magna Housing, which donated £250.

Catriona Fountain, head of communication for Magna, was at the first meeting.

She said: “We support the communities we are based in and this looks like a really good opportunity for the children in the village to get together regularly and build good links with others where they live.

“Magna is really pleased to be able to support it.”

The next meeting of the youth club will be on Saturday, October 1 from 2pm to 4pm at Frampton Village Hall.
