THERE’S lots to do in Weymouth– as three national journalists discovered.

The trio were invited to the town by Weymouth BID so they could experience and write about the adventure and wellness activities on offer.

Natasha Blair, from Just About Travel; Ben West from the free London magazine Black and Green and Jim Selby from the Daily Express were all treated to waves and wonders of Weymouth.

The aim of the trip was to promote the town as not just a place for families but activity, adventure and wellness.

It was also arranged to showcase how the area has been delivering legacy since hosting Olympic sailing events in 2012.

The guests got to enjoy the Jurassic Cycle Trail, stand-up paddle boarding, jet ski touring and, of course, a spot of sailing.

Jacqui Gisborne of Signpost Cycling, who hosted the visit on behalf of Weymouth BID, said: “Weymouth and Portland has a varied number of activities on offer, which can help extend the tourism seasons economy.

“With an ever–increasing number of people wanting a sense of adventure and achievement from their leisure time, it was felt the moment was right to highlight the area as a destination for activity, adventure and wellness.

“The press trip was designed to showcase to the journalists exactly how diverse and varied the activities are for complete beginners. And although a little apprehensive at the start, they certainly had the broadest of smiles after they had experienced their chosen activity. They were genuinely surprised how much there was to do and how quickly you could gain enough knowledge to feel the sense of achievement.”

The trip was timed to coincide with the FEAST event and the journalists enjoyed the preview event at the Nothe Tavern.

There is still plenty of time to enjoy FEAST, which runs until November 30.

Weymouth BID covered the travel and hospitality expenses for the event with West Dorset Tourism funding accommodation at the Portland Heights Hotel.

Businesses that donated experiences include Signpost Cycling, Jurassic Coast Jet Ski Tours, Jurassic Skyline, Stables and Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
