A week of activities promoting health and wellbeing will kick off tomorrow.

Families are encouraged to pop down to Littlemoor, between October 24 and 29, to take part in some half term fun.

Residents can try Tai Chi, learn about food and mess around with clay in just some of the activities that have been organised by the Big4Littlemoor Better Living Group.

The group, part of the Big4Littlemoor Project, has brought together a host of organisations to offer a selection of activities for residents in and around Littlemoor which promote good health and wellbeing in the community.

The events will take place in the library, the community centre, the church and out in the fresh air.

Gill Paterson, project coordinator for Big4Littlemoor, said: “There will be talks and informal chats on subjects like living with diabetes, reducing your meal portion sizes and what to eat to keep you full, to talks about drug and alcohol additions.”

Gill added that a new scheme will be launched in January called Better Living Buddies, which will offer support on how to lose weight, stop smoking or take up healthy activities.

Lynwood Newman, of Big4Littlemoor, added: “If we get a good response and it makes a change within the community, then it’s a good win.”
