A MAN has died after a serious crash between a car and a motorcycle in Poole.

The 23-year-old was one of two people travelling on a green Kawasaki motorbike from the Frizzell roundabout onto Lindsay Road when they were in a collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction at 5.37pm on Sunday.

The man was taken to Poole General Hospital following the crash but died a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed as has the coroner.

A second man travelling with him, aged 21 and from Bournemouth, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital and is said to be in a life-threatening condition.

A blue Renault Clio was also involved in the crash. The driver - a 31-year-old man who was travelling from Penn Hill towards Bournemouth - was uninjured.

The road has been closed for several hours.

Sergeant Joe Pardey, of Dorset Police’s road traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving or riding of either vehicle prior to the incident to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would like to thank motorists for their patience during the road closures which have been necessary to allow emergency services to deal with the incident, treat the injured and examine the scene."

The air ambulance landed at Branksome Recreation Ground before taking one of the bikers to Southampton.
