A POPULAR Dorchester club is set to celebrate its refurbishment in spook-tacular fashion.

The Trinity Club in Trinity Street is combining its Hallowe'en Party with a re-launch event on Saturday (Oct 29).

There will also be a charitable element to the night with two local causes set to be presented with cheques from the club's fundraising efforts.

Club manager Ian Titterington said that over the course of recent months, the club has undergone a refurbishment that has included repainting much of the venue, new seating in the ballroom area, a revamp of the kitchen and new tables and chairs in what is known as the 'green room'.

He said: "Throughout the whole club everything has been done."

Although the club has remained open throughout the refurbishment, Mr Titterington says Saturday's event is open to non-members as well as members and may well be the first chance for many to check out its new look.

Mayor of Dorchester Tim Harries and his mayoress Anita are set to attend, with the fun getting underway at 7pm and runs until midnight.

Music will be provided by the Simon Gaston Roadshow and cheques will be presented to the Dorchester Community Nursery School and the Purbeck Ward at Dorset County Hospital.

Mr Titterington said each cause is set to receive more than £500, with the money raised through the sale of one of the club's televisions and a fundraising event at the venue.

The event will be a family friendly occasion and there will be prizes for the best Hallowe'en fancy dress.

There will be three prizes up for grabs for under 5s, ages six to nine, 10 to 13 and adults.

There will also be party games with prizes on offer.

The event follows a successful Hallowe'en event held by the club last year, which Mr Titterington said exceeded all expectations.

With the chance to check out the refurbishment and support local causes this year, he said he was hoping for another bumper turnout this time round.

Mr Titterington said: "It was a success last year and hopefully we will have the same success this year."

Admission is free for club members and costs £2 for non-members.
