DIVISION TWO

CAFÉ OASIS 30

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 27

CAFÉ Oasis managed to hold off Allways Removals to win 30-27.

An evenly-matched start saw play going end to end, with each team scoring off their centre passes. Turnovers from Oasis, followed by accurate passing into the circle, gained them a narrow lead in spite of the energetic and unrelenting play of Allways’ GD, Gilly Woodsford.

In the second period, Allways came out strong and started to close the gap but Café Oasis kept their calm and managed to capitalise on small errors, giving them the upper hand.

Strong defence from Café Oasis goal keeper, Alison Frampton, and goal defence, Kara Draper, further limited Allways’ opportunities to score, however, Allways continued to fight back and claim some interceptions of their own, allowing them to catch up, thanks to accurate shooting by Lorraine Kellaway.

The final quarter remained close with Allways coming within one goal of taking the lead but Café kept going and managed to see the game out for a three-goal victory.

DIVISION ONE

OTC 33

OJOS 22

OTC managed to hold out for a big win as they rained on OJOs parade.

OTC had the first centre but were unable to capitalise on this. OJOs took advantage to score the first two goals of the match.

However accurate, quick centre-court play brought OTC back into the lead.

The second quarter was very evenly matched but superb interceptions by OTC’s goal keeper, Lyndsey Pollard, allowed them to stretch their lead slightly.

OTC dominated the final quarter with some quick goals in rapid succession, allowing them to stretch their lead and win 33-22.

PREMIER DIVISION

BELLE CONSTRUCTION 70

BAY FENCING 9

BELLE continued to dominate the Premier Division with a 70-9 victory over Bay Fencing.

Belle started out strong, with precise passes and fantastic shooting allowing them to build a strong lead.

Bay worked hard to keep possession of the ball but could not compete with the onslaught of interceptions from Belle.

The second and third quarters saw Belle forge a remarkable lead, but this did not stop Bay from giving their all.

Chaz Reid, produced a long-distance goal, pulling one back for her team.

In the final stages of the match, Belle players switched positions and goal shooter, Kelly Brown, continued the goal spree as Belle continued to dominate.

Jazzie Franklin moved from goal shooter to goal keeper and proved to be a formidable

defender, limiting Bay’s opportunities.

DIVISION ONE

CRESTA LEISURE 32

WYKE SMUGGLERS 47

WYKE Smugglers’ fluid game-play allowed them to dominate their clash against Cresta Leisure.

The Smugglers started well, with fluid passing down the court.

Brilliant passing in the final third converted to points by Sue Cox at goal shooter, established a good lead for Wyke Smugglers.

Cresta fought back in the second period by capitalising on their impressive attacking play, allowing them to convert their skill into points.

Driving rain and howling winds did not dampen the players spirits, though it certainly made for more difficult playing conditions. Wyke Smugglers used accurate, precise passing to get the ball to their shooters and ensure the lead remained theirs. Cresta’s shooting duo persevered, making play look effortless but it was not enough to stem the flow of Wyke Smugglers, allowing the latter to claim the victory by 15 goals.
