THE Seasiders entertain Swanage & Wareham Seconds tomorrow (2.30pm) in a local derby that manager Vaughan Carter describes as a dry run for next week’s Dorset & Wilts Vase final at Warminster against Swindon College Old Boys.

Carter said: “Against Lytchett Minster last week I felt a little complacency had crept in and I took one of the lads off at half-time and told him that I didn’t think that he was giving us 100 per cent.

“I received a bit of stick from some of the players for that, however I gave him a second chance and sent him back out for the last quarter and what a transformation, he didn’t miss a tackle or drop a pass and contributed to our match winning try. I don’t want to have to take that action again, but I will if I think that it is necessary.

“Against the Swans I expect nothing other than a hard game and I will tell them to put any thoughts of the Vase final out of their minds until after the final whistle”.

Hooker Dan Hayne and prop Andy Bowditch both return to the front row.

Weymouth & Portland’s second team have an excellent opportunity to leapfrog above their guests, New Milton Thirds, in Dorset & Wilts Division Three. Only a couple of points separate the sides, so a convincing victory would see the Seasiders move into second place.
