THREE people were taken to hospital after separate crashes across Dorset yesterday.

Firefighters had to cut two people from their cars after they became trapped following an early morning head-on collision between Wool and Wareham.

The crash happened just after 7.30am yesterday on the A352 Wareham Road and the road was closed for almost four hours while emergency services dealt with the situation.

While two people were taken to hospital following the collision – one to Poole Hospital and one to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester – their injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Adam Collinge, operations officer for the South Western Ambulance Service Trust, said: “We were called at 7.30am to a head-on collision with two casualties, both of which required the assistance of the fire service to remove them from their cars.

“We sent two ambulances and an incident officer. One patient, a male in his late teens was taken to Poole Hospital with abdominal injuries and a female in her forties was taken to Dorset County Hospital with neck pain. None of the injuries are thought to be lifethreatening.”

Fire crews from Wareham and Poole arrived on the scene at 7.40am.

A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they removed both casualties using hydraulic cutting gear and spinal boards.

The crash involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa, registered to a man from Swanage, and a blue BMW, registered to a woman from the Wareham area.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A352 near the Stokeford Inn on Monday morning.

“The ambulance service and fire service also attended and the local authority was also called to clean up a spillage on the road.”

The A352 remained closed in both directions for almost four hours whilst vehicles were recovered.

Elsewhere, a woman was taken to hospital after her vehicle crashed into a parked car.

Dorset Police were called to Herringston Road, Dorchester at 12.59pm yesterday following reports of a crash. A spokesman for the police confirmed a woman crashed into a stationary vehicle.

The woman was driving a grey Honda Jazz registered to a Dorchester address. She crashed into a parked grey Vauxhall Vivaro.

The spokesman said the woman was taken to Dorset County Hospital by a family member as a precaution.
