A TEACHER has been inspired by one of her pupils to say goodbye to her hair and raise money for charity.

Georgina Taylor, from Weymouth, is set to have 30cm of her hair to be donated to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

As well as this, a charity pool competition is being held to raise additional funds.

It is all being held at Snookes, on Caroline Place in Weymouth, on Saturday (December 10) from 4pm.

The hair cutting is at 4.30pm with a pool competition from 6pm.

Entry to the competition is £5 and will also go to the Little Princess Trust.

Georgina, 37, is a teacher at IPACA and decided to take up the challenge after one of her pupils did something similar earlier this year.

"One of the kids at school did it in the summer term and I was inspired by her. Someone suggested to me that when I decided to cut that I give it to charity."

Georgina wanted to thank Austin Wainwright, the owner of Snookes for letting her put the event on and her sister Joy Barber, who will be cutting her hair.

All are welcome to come along and watch Georgina say goodbye to her hair as well as take part in the tournament.

Georgina has already set up a fundraising page and has raised more than £270 to go to the charity's work.

The Little Princess Trust aims to provide wigs and hair pieces to children with cancer as for some hairloss can be very upsetting.

The charity works with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers to offer wigs tailored to the individual child's needs to give the most realistic look and feel.

All the wigs are provided for free but can only do so with the help of hair donated by people like Georgina.

The average wig costs between £350 and £500 to be made.
