THERE are many faces in this picture postcard watching a key moment in the history of Portland.
In May 1914 the foundation stone of All Saints Church, Portland, was laid in May 1914 by the Bishop of Salisbury.
It was built nearer the centre of the parish as a replacement for St George's Church. All Saints, designed by the local architect Crickmay, contains fine carved choir stalls.
It is unusual that the foundation stone was laid and the building completed during the First World War.
