THE coastguard was called after an elderly man slipped and injured his ankle.
Swanage coastguard team was paged just after 1pm on Friday to a walker on the coastal path near to Anvil Point.
An 81-year-old man slipped and injured his ankle while walking with a group.
The team arrived and provided initial first aid but with heavy fog and damp ground conditions the casualty needed to be moved to a point where an ambulance could safely get too.
The man was moved on to the coastguard’s stretcher and carried the quarter of a mile to the ambulance.
The team returned to the station just after 3pm.
