ALBUM REVIEW

TERRY WOGAN

A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC

THIS collection of tracks celebrate the life of Sir Terry Wogan, one of the many great luminaries of the world of entertainment what we lost last year.

Many of them hark back to the days of Sir Terry's Wake up to Wogan Radio 2 breakfast show - The Corrs, Ronan Keating and Amy Winehouse were all regular staples of the DJ's popular programme.

It is hard to now imagine a radio show that attracts 8 million listeners, like Sir Terry's dulcet Irish tones once did.

A highlight of this 44 track compilation is The Floral Dance by the great man himself - a novelty track that you actually want to listen to.

And then there are the deeply personal songs, the mainstays of his more recent Sunday morning show, that meant so much to Sir Terry - The Folks Who Live on the Hill by Peggy Lee and Portrait of my Love by Matt Monro.

There was only one Sir Terry Wogan, and while some may conclude this easy listening collection leans toward the bland, this DJ and presenter was so well loved because he was truly the master of the mainstream.
