AN 11-piece chamber ensemble is set to delight a Dorchester audience this coming weekend.

Lavolta, a new and hugely talented Devon-based ensemble, features vocalists Kate Westbrook and Sarah Owen.

They specialise in 20th century classical repertoire and the fascinating programme for their Dorchester visit includes some pieces which deserve to be much better known, including William Walton’s Façade 2, which sets Edith Sitwell’s outlandish poetry to bold and mischievous music, and Luciano Berio's Folk Songs, featuring songs from the United States, Armenia, France, Sardinia and more.

The programme also features works by Judith Weir, Kurt Weill and Vaughan Williams, whose setting of A E Houseman’s Along the Field is another delight for a Sunday afternoon.

*Lavolta at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Sunday January 22 at 2.30pm. Call the box office at Dorchester Arts for tickets.
