THIS weekend sees Dorchester Rugby Club field three senior men’s sides in both league and friendly action.

The first XV entertain Lytchett Minster in Dorset & Wilts One South at Coburg Road tomorrow (2.15pm).

Having moved up to fourth place in the league, the first team will look to push for a top-three place and continue their recent good form.

A strong squad has been named and, with new faces coming into the side, confidence is high.

Following good performances since joining the club, Sandy Sanderson is down to make his first-team debut in the centre and Nathan Fox, having impressed off the bench, starts in the front row.

Fellow prop Duncan Inwood returns to the bench after time out with injury and Laurence Burch is called up to the squad after a string of excellent performances in the second XV.

Zak Paton returns to the fold after time away, and Julian Dale makes his debut at home for the side.

With numbers growing at training and the hard work paying off in recent performances, coaches Ben Parker and Rich Bament said: “We are in a good place at the moment as a club. Training is strong, selection is a joy to be involved with and we are building nicely each week with our results as a senior squad.

“We have two successive home games now that we must dominate and produce big wins from, in order to reduce the points gap, if we are to achieve the third place target.”

Elsewhere, the second XV travel to Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew, while the third XV Gladiators make the trip to Chard to play a veterans and ‘Return to Rugby’ friendly.
