A number of fire crews were called to a chimney blaze in Winterbourne Abbas.
Fire crews from Weymouth and Dorchester were called to Longland's Lane shortly after 7.10pm on Monday.
It was extinguished using the chimney kit and a hose reel jet.
Dorchester crews were midway through training when one of the appliances was called to attend the fire.
On arrival, the crew found the chimney to be well alight and requested the back-up of further resources due to a lack of water supplies in the area.
Further crews from Dorchester and Weymouth attended.
The firefighters tackled the blaze from the chimney pot and the hearth and it was quickly brought under control.
