DETECTIVES investigating an assault in Weymouth have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

Police received reports that a man had been assaulted in St Albans Street at around 3.20am on Friday, December 16, following an altercation between a group of people in Actors Bar on New Street.

The victim - a local man aged in his 20s - was punched and hit on the head with a glass bottle during the incident.

He suffered a cut to his ear that required stitches and a swollen eye.

Detective Constable Lucy Cummings, of Weymouth CID, said: "As part of my investigation I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to in relation to this incident.

“I would ask anyone who recognises the man pictured to please contact Dorset Police. Alternatively, if you are pictured please come forward."

A 33-year-old man from Portland who was arrested on suspicion of assault was subsequently released from police bail without charge.
