A MAN is due to appear before magistrates accused of possessing a knife and provoking unlawful violence in Weymouth on Saturday night.
The man was arrested on Abbotsbury Road at around 8pm when Dorset Police were alerted to a man possessing a weapon.
A heavy police presence, including armed officers, was reported in the area, near to the junction with Corporation Road.
The man has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and using threatening, abusive, insulting behaviour with intent to cause fear and/or provoke unlawful violence.
He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27.
