A Weymouth man was injured after being hit by a car. 

Police are appealing for information after the 25-year-old pedestrian was struck on West Cliff Road in Bournemouth. 

The incident, which involved a black BMW, happened at 9pm last night.

The driver of the car, which had a boxer-type dog in the boot, failed to stop at the scene.

The victim injured his ankle and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Constable Mike Henstridge, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, said: “The BMW car involved in this collision failed to stop at the scene and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the manner of driving of the BMW immediately before or after the incident, to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have information about the identity of the driver.”
