GET ready for a night of incredible music from Senegal.
Senegalese singer and guitarist Abdoulaye Samb and his band Minnjiaraby will be playing live at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday (25) at 7.30pm.
Based in Hackney, the band was founded in 2001 and is made up of some of the most talented artists from Sengal in Africa.
They play original music inspired by Fula and Mandika cultures amongst others. The Mandinka are famous for their jalis or griots, while the Fula people have a rich musical culture and play a wide range of traditional instruments.
Abdoulaye Samb began music by creating his own instruments from scratch, with fishing lines as strings. He taught himself to play until members of the griot Cissokho family noticed him, and offered him a guitar and their teachings. He went travelling around west Africa to learn different traditions and cultures. He then played with many esteemed artists and groups.
Tickets are available from the box office.
