YOUNG musicians are set to give a gig to remember as they help out other young artists.

Tomorrow night (Friday March 24) youth music charity B Sharp will be holding an evening of live music at The Harbour Inn in Lyme Regis, in support of the National Foundation of Youth Music.

The charity invests in music-making projects for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances. This is part of Youth Music’s nationwide fundraising campaign Give A Gig, which helps raise awareness of the great work they do for young people through music-making.

More than 100 gigs will be performed across the UK. The aim is to have fun and perform great music together, but it also encourages people to raise vital funds to support young people.

The evening starts at 7.30pm and admission is free, but donations will be welcomed.

The evening will feature various works from B Sharp musicians, from original songs to covers, and will be followed by a set from local jazz and soul band, Hot Java.

The night will be wrapped up with a group jam, featuring special guest artists and local musicians.

Organiser and B Sharp music leader, Jon Pogson, said: "It's great to be able to do something for Youth Music, who play such a significant part of the work we deliver at B Sharp, especially this year as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary."

Mark Oldfield landlord of the Harbour Inn said he was very pleased to support the event, adding: “We have supported many others before, and look forward to what musical delights are in store for us this time.”

Mr Oldfield added: “B Sharp has so much to offer young inspiring musicians and singers. Their weekly jam sessions allow those who aren't formally learning an instrument and those who are, to come together and help each other on their musical journey.”

Hot Java bassist, Mark Foxhall, said: "I'm supporting the B Sharp event, as playing live is fun, but also full of valuable life lessons.

"Playing live is so very different to practicing at home, and B Sharp gives its members the 'live gig’ experience, but also manages to install a healthy balance of commitment and fun.”
