A car crashed in to the front of a pharmacy. 


Emergency services were called to The Street, Charmouth, shortly before 8.30 today to reports of a single vehicle collision. 


A spokesman for Dorset Police said the crash involved a silver Volkswagen Golf that had collided with the front of a pharmacy.


The driver was helped from the vehicle by paramedics and firefighters and given first aid at the scene before he was taken to Dorset County Hospital


A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said they were called at 8.26am. 


They attended with one ambulance and the man, who suffered neck injuries, was taken to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment. 


Fire crews from Charmouth and Lyme attended and, after assisting the driver, made the scene safe. 


The road was closed for an hour while emergency services dealt with the incident. 


It reopened at about 9.30am. 


A spokesman for Dorset Police added that they do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.
