CCTV images have been released following a distraction burglary on a vulnerable woman in Poole.

The incident happened at around 10am on Thursday March 30 in Southill Road and the victim was a vulnerable woman in her 60s.

Two men visited her property and when she answered the door they pushed their way in.

While one of the men distracted the victim, another stole her safe.

The victim was not physically injured in the incident.

CCTV footage has been obtained showing a light Blue Vauxhall Corsa in the area around the time of the offence and two people officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Lynda Soutine, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a despicable crime targeting a vulnerable woman in her own home.

“I am now in a position to release CCTV images of two people I would like to speak to in connection with this incident and I would appeal to anyone who recognises them or has any more information to please contact me.

“Victims of bogus callers or distraction burglaries are often vulnerable people who live by themselves and I'd urge everyone to help reduce the chance that the people you care about and your elderly neighbours are subject to this type of crime.

“Do not buy, sell or sign up to any work on the doorstep no matter how urgent they say the work is. If you are suspicious of the caller’s intentions, tell them to go away and call a family member or neighbour and inform the police. If they won’t leave, then call 999."
