STUNNING photographs of local landmarks prove what beautiful views can be captured in Dorset.

Skilled photographer, Pete Scott of Naturehawk Photography, has been using his digital skills to create eye-catching panoramic views of iconic locations in Dorset.

One of his latest works shows a five-photo panoramic image of Lulworth Cove at sunset, captured on Tuesday evening. (April 11)

With the clocks now gone forward and spring upon us, photographers have the opportunity to capture the perfect moment – whether that be the sunrise or sunset or anything in-between.

Pete said: "Lulworth is such a stunning and interesting area that we are so lucky to have close by.

"I'm originally from near Manchester so maybe I appreciate it a little more than most people living here.

"I also think there are many areas of Lulworth to admire or feature as a photographic subject, such as the Cove waters and it's colour, the Cove cliffs and fauna, Stair Hole, the entrance to the Channel and the cliffs on the Channel side.

"Also we have sunrise and sunset opportunities as well as shooting some astro-night photography."

Meanwhile, a Swanage photographer waited nearly four years to capture a stunning shot of the full moon rising over a Purbeck landmark.

Gareth James headed to Kimmeridge Bay on Tuesday night to capture the moon rising next to Clavell Tower, the Grade II listed Victorian folly.

He said after “numerous failed attempts” he finally succeeded in getting the perfect shot.

“It’s quite a difficult shot to get as you have to be in a certain place, and the full moon only rises in that particular spot a few times a year.

“I had to walk to the far edge of Kimmeridge Bay, near Broad Bench, then shoot back across the sea towards the rising moon with my 500mm lens.

“When the cloud started to appear, I did worry, but everything came together nicely and it was the perfect shot. I’m really chuffed with it.

Gareth said this picture was one of several shots he had been hoping to achieve in his eight years as a photography enthusiast.

“Everyone can take a picture of a full moon in the sky, but it’s good to get something next to it like Clavell Tower.

“I was a mile away from the tower when I took the shot, and I zoomed in as close as I could to compress the perspective and make the moon look huge.”
