BRIGHT new star Laura Lexx will headline next month's Comedy Cafe show at the Bridport Arts Centre.

Critically acclaimed comedian Laura is a rising star in the west country.

She made national news recently after a clip of her tackling a heckler went viral. Originally from Somerset, the charmingly funny Laurahas soared through the comedy ranks and developed into a masterful storyteller and ever engaging performer.

After rave reviews for her first Edinburgh Festival solo show in 2015, praised for her 'comedic steel' by The Guardian, the delightfully middle class Laura Lexx has gone from strength to strength.

Her clipped RP accent and warm friendly persona immediately disarms any audience but, as her recent viral hit suggests, she’s not to be messed with. Laura is the perfect fit for the Bridport Arts Centre crown tackling every aspect of her charmed cosy coastal life from living with her husband to what a means to be a woman in 21st century Britain.

Opening the show will be former South Coast Comedian of the Year Mike Cox. Mike has received high praise from some of the country's best loved acts and is recognised for his everyman persona that he combines with a surreal outlook and unique viewpoints on trick subject matters. Dubbed as the next Rob Beckett by one leading reviewer, Mike has a relaxed friendly air to his act that makes him a favourite with almost every audience.

Completing the line up will be musical comic Josh Elton. Hailing from the Welsh valleys, Josh combines jokes and observations with comic songs, and is not afraid to take on any subject matter in order to make is politcal points.

Regular compere Tom Glover will host the show and share his latest musings on westcountry life.
