A FLY-TIPPER has been brought to justice after evading authorities for more than a year.

Beata Rogala, of Victoria Grove, was arrested and taken straight to court on Wednesday after twice previously failing to appear before magistrates.

In January last year, Bolton Council discovered a pile of 20 bags of waste in Raikes Lane and when interviewed Rogala accepted the waste had come from her house.

Appearing before Bolton Magistrates' Court, the 20-year-old was fined £200, ordered to pay costs of £250 and a victim surcharge of £30.

Four other residents were also fined as the council continued its crackdown on fly-tipping.

Paige Duffy, aged 24, of Rawson Street, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to dumping two bags of waste in Victoria Grove and was fined £185 and was ordered to pay costs of £120 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Brian Brown, aged 18, of Holland Street, Astley Bridge, pleaded guilty to dumping waste in streets to the rear of Tonge Moore Road and was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £150 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Brian Sutton, aged 43, of Bride Street, did not attend court and was found guilty in his absence of dumping a sofa in streets to the rear of his address and was fined £120, as well as being ordered to pay costs of £310 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Klaudia Kilompar, of Mellor Grove, also did not attend and was fund guilty in her absence of dumping three bags of waste to the rear of Eskrick Street and was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £300 as well as a £30 victim surcharge.

Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for environmental services, Councillor Nick Peel, said: “The council’s behaviour change team have again secured more convictions against anti-social fly-tippers, including one individual who tried unsuccessfully to evade the courts for over a year.

"I would like to assure residents that the council will continue to take all steps available to track down and prosecute those who wish to treat our neighbourhoods and this borough with complete disrespect.

"Fly tipping is a crime which will not be tolerated.”
