IT'S all sounding good in Weymouth tomorrow for a day celebrating independent record stores.

Record Store Day, which this year falls on Saturday, April 22, is when more than 200 independent record shops across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture.

Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops host artist performances and events to mark the occasion.

The day is being marked at Revolution Vinyl Cafe on Weymouth harbourside, the only independent record store locally selling new vinyl.

The business, in Trinity Road, includes a coffee bar and vintage boutique.

Sarah Whiteside of dress-making business Frank Design started the venture after touring a pop-up boutique around festivals.

As Revolution only opened last July this will be the first time it is participating in Record Store day.

It will open earlier tomorrow - at 8am - so people can get in early to get their hands on exclusive vinyl produced specially for the day including new releases, one-offs and picture discs.

As well as giveaways and promotions in store, there will be live music at 2pm courtesy of Jack Grace, a Bournemouth-based indie outfit.

The shop will be open until 7pm.

Sarah said there has a been a resurgence in vinyl, with enthusiasts enjoying the nostalgia aspect but also appreciating the depth of the quality of sound.

She said there was also a physical aspect with music fans enjoying the sleeve and album artwork, something that doesn't come with a digital download.
