EXPERIENCE the thrill of London’s theatre scene – without the commute!
Live screenings of some of the biggest London productions will be shown at the Electric Palace in Bridport this year.
Big names including Harry potter star Daniel Radcliffe, Jude Law and Billie Piper will be featuring in a host of classic and modern tales.
Performances include Yerma, which has just won an Olivier Award for Best Revival and Best Actress for Billie Piper. It will be shown on Thursday, September 14.
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Rome season begins with Julius Caesar on Wednesday, April 26, opening with the politics of spin and betrayal turning to violence. Angus Jackson, who recently directed the sell-out productions of Oppenheimer and Don Quixote, is director for the Rome season, directing the opening and closing plays of the season, Julius Caesar and Coriolanus.
Blanche McIntyre will direct Titus Andronicus, Iqbal Khan returns to the company to direct Antony and Cleopatra, with Josette Simon taking on the role of Cleopatra.
The National Theatre’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead will be shown on Thursday, May 4. Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, together with David Haig, of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, will star in Tom Stoppard’s situation comedy, broadcast live from The Old Vic theatre in London.
Then on Thursday, May 11, the National Theatre’s Obsession will be shown, starring Jude Law, and screened live from The Barbican Theatre, London
The line-up of shows also includes Imelda Staunton in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Peter Pan in June, Glyndebourne throughout the summer, The National Theatre’s Salome in June and Angels in America, parts one and two, in July.
