A man charged with murdering toddler Harry House is set to stand trial this week.

The trial at Winchester Crown Court was set to begin this morning, but the court heard that the jury will now be sworn in tomorrow, as legal discussions are taking place today.

Joseph Eke, 22, is charged with the toddler's murder on May 26 last year, and a further charge of GBH on March 27, 2016.

The trial is set to last up to four weeks.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Broadmayne on May 27 last year where Harry was discovered seriously ill. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

At previous hearings, police reminded members of the public that no comments should be made which could impact the court case.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “I would like to remind members of the public to be mindful that certain legal constraints apply now proceedings are active. We would hate for anyone to accidentally impact on a court case by posting well-intended but inappropriate comments on social media.”
