Dorset Police Rural Crime Team are asking the public to be aware of a white Ford Transit van that has been 'acting in suspicious circumstances.'
The driver of the van has been seen asking to buy scrap metal and batteries from farms and businesses in the county.
The van has reportedly been seen in Dorchester and Wareham.
Its partial registration is F*55 *TX.
Police are asking the public if they see this vehicle or any other vehicle acting in similar circumstances, to note down the registration number, a description of the driver and any passengers.
