DORCHESTER Cricket Club have announced that they are in the top six clubs in the country for recruitment to the All Stars Cricket initiative.

The project is aimed at five to eight-year-olds, with Dorchester ranking highly against 1,800 clubs across the country.

Nearly 40 boys and girls have signed up for the eight-week course, which commences on Saturday, May 20.

A big reason behind this achievement is the fantastic coaching team Dorchester have put together to ensure all young cricketers get the very best coaching on offer.

Head level three coach, Sean Fitzgerald, is delighted to welcome ex-Minor Counties bowler David Trotter to the fold as bowling coach, assisted by Dorset league representative James Dunham and Nathan Quinn.

Ex-Hampshire and Sussex county player, Jo Haysom, is also coaching a new girls’ team, while Will Mckay has also been brought in as batting coach.

n All new players are welcome to attend the coaching sessions, along with All Stars, on Saturday mornings.

All age groups from under-9s to under-15s and girls will be training at the Recreation Ground every Wednesday at 6pm. Seniors continue to train on Tuesday evenings and again all are welcome.

Anybody interesting in joining the initiative should visit the All Stars website and type in ‘Dorchester’ in the tool bar.

n Dorchester are looking for someone who is interested in scoring on an occasional basis. Anyone interested in joining any of the sides please contact Simon Joslin on 01305 262850 for further information.
