It's Bank Holiday, a three-day weekend, which for many will mean a leisurely pub lunch at some stage.

And with so many pubs in Dorset to choose from, we've compiled a list of some of the places you may want to visit this weekend.

According to TripAdvisor, these pubs have the best ratings - and some glorious food menus as well.

1) The Sailor's Return at Chaldon Herring between West Lulworth and Winfrith.

Most of the reviews for this place are "excellent", praising the homemade food and decent range of ales at the pub. There is also particular praise for the pies at The Sailor's Return.

2) Three Horseshoes at Burton Bradstock

Near Bridport, the outstanding comments about the quality of the food and high level of service, make this a must-visit if you are in the area. Plus they are dog friendly for those of you with pets.

3) The Black Swan Inn at Swanage

Good beers, reasonably priced and decent service are just some of the comments for the Black Swan. Sunday lunch is also a good shout if you're interested.

4) The Castle Inn, Corfe Castle

One of the favourites due to the good pub grub and decent drinks, it seems from the online reviews. And they get a lot of praise for their service as well.

5) The Brewers Arms, Dorchester

This is favourite with those who combine it with a walk on The Ridgeway. A great atmosphere and dog friendly, traditional pub food is the name of the game.

6) Brewhouse and Kitchen, Poole

Friendly service, good range of food and a decent selection of beer. There is a lot of comments about the high level of service at this Brewhouse.

7) The Anchor Inn, Burton Bradstock

You may need to book if you fancy a table here. But the reviews for the seafood are worth it alone by the sound of it. There is also a separate bar menu and restaurant menu.

8) The Cove House Inn, Isle of Portland

There are great views from the beer garden here over the beach and the food looks delicious. The crab sandwiches seem to be a particular favourite of customers.

9) The Old Thatch, Wimborne

There is a great Sunday carvery here, say customers, with the rest of the menu also faring pretty well and the service praised as well.

10) The Anchor Inn at Seatown

This has recently been named the best tourism pub in the whole country - so might be busy. However, with its views and full cocktail menu, its definitely worth a visit according to these reviews.
