RESCUERS were sent to help a dive boat which was stuck on rocks.
The RNLI inshore boat from Weymouth was launched at 5.45pm on Saturday to reports of a vessel aground at Balaclava Bay, Portland.
A 6m RIB dive boat with four on board had fouled its propeller with a rope, and a strong onshore breeze had washed the RIB onto the beach close to Portland Harbour, the lifeboat crew reported.
A spokesman for Weymouth RNLI said: "The inshore lifeboat was on scene six minutes after launching and soon established that the four on board were well and uninjured although the RIB was well and truly stuck on the rocks.
"A tow line was attached and the lifeboat managed to pull her off of the rocks and then took her in tow to Castletown on Portland.
"She was met by Portland Bill Coastguard who offered safety advice.
"The lifeboat then made her way back to Weymouth arriving at approximately 7pm."
