BRIDPORT musicians will be joining forces for the launch of a local artist’s new album.

Local artist Elizabeth Hornby will be launching her new piano album, 'Betrothal', with an evening concert at the Bridport Art Centre tomorrow (19) at 7.30pm.

Tickets are still available from the venue.

The new album will be Elizabeth's third solo piano album. It brings together themes of love, experiencing the refugee crisis and solidarity marches as well as some more meditative pieces.

The album was recorded at the beginning of this year at the Church of St Candida and the Holy Cross in Whitchurch Canonicorum, with local music producer and musician Logan Carter from Rough Bark Studios, on the St Michael's Estate, Bridport. The album art was illustrated and designed by local freelance artist Megan Edwards.

The collective of local musicians known for tomorrow night as 'The Secret Garden,' will be playing a variety of instruments including; harp, violin, hammered dulcimer, cello, classical guitar and of course, the piano. There will also be a guest performance from Bridport Youth Dance member Amber Palfreyman, who will dance with accompaniment from cellist Matt Benjemin who also wrote the music.

Everyone is invited to the event, which will feature new compositions and a chance to hear some music from contemporary composers such as Philip Glass, Arvo Part and Max Richter.

There will also be a chance to buy Elizabeth’s new album, or it is also available from Bridport Music in South Street.
