A man has been found safe and well after a police search.

Officers put out an appeal in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, to find John Beaton, known as Ian, who went missing on Saturday.

He is 53 years old, and was reported missing at 9:07pm last night.

A spokesman said: "Officers are pleased to update that John Beaton, who is known as Ian, has been found safe in Bournemouth.

"We would like to thank everyone who has assisted in the search and shared our appeal."

Speaking when the appeal was launched, Chief Inspector Lou Pope, of Dorset Police, said: “Ian was last seen in the afternoon of Friday 19 May 2017 at his home in Dean Park Road in Bournemouth.

"However he sent a message to his family on Saturday afternoon. Since then he has not been seen or heard from since.

“We believe Ian was very upset when he sent the message and we are becoming very concerned for his safety.

“Anyone who has seen Ian since Friday should contact us urgently and if Ian sees this appeal, please get in touch as we and your family want to make sure you are safe and well.”
