Take a tour across the world this summer in just one evening.

The Poundbury Rotary Club is celebrating the end of the Rotary Year by holding a new and adventurous event, and also honouring the retiring club president, Helen Horsley.

The Wine Trail will see travellers start at one location before being given four places to walk to in Poundbury.

At each location there will be a selection of wines to taste from several countries, with nibbles to match.

Peter Noble from the Rotary Club said: "On the night, there will be four teams of 15, who will meet and start at one location, and then be given four places to walk to on Poundbury.

"At each location will be a selection of wines to taste, with nibbles to match.

"Then during the evening every group will move from one location to the next, thus visiting several country’s wines at a leisurely pace.

"So, everyone taking part will be able to try wines from France, Italy, and other countries in one evening, and all will end up at one location to conclude the evening in style."

Although the trail is not a fundraiser, any profits will be put in to the club's charity account and be used as and when necessary to help others.

The Rotary Club hosts regular events to raise money for good causes.

If efforts to end water shortage problems in Nepal, the club is continuously raising money to be able to fund water pumps.

Most recently the club held a quiz night at Brownsword Hall in Poundbury and raised £750.

The quiz as always was a bit different, written not by one person, but by some of the members. Tables of six quizzers filled the hall on the night and took part in the quiz, and a chocolate raffle.

The majority of the profits - 90 per cent - will be going to The Nepal Water Project with 10 per cent going to the rotary foundation.

The Wine Trail will be taking place on the evening of Friday, June 23.

The trail will cost £20 and there is a maximum attendance of just 60 people so booking is essential.
