WHO were the celebrity glamour girls being driven around Portland in a white stretch limo?
They were none other than eight very excited 8-11-year-old visitors from Belarus living a dream thanks to their hosts, Friends of Chernobyl's Children.
The surprise pamper evening was arranged at the home of committee member Margaret Newberry and there, waiting to transform the girls, were professional hairdresser Caroline Gill, who is hosting two of the children, Liz Davis who did the manicures, translator Ludmilla Korshunova who did discreet, youthful make-up and Heather Hendy, who assisted all three.
Then came the biggest surprise, when the transformed Cinderellas went outside to find a white stretch limo waiting for them, courtesy of Simon Druitt of Columbus Cars.
Simon was their chauffeur and he said later: "I have never had such an appreciative group in my car.
"They may only have travelled around the island, but as far as these youngsters were concerned they DID go to the ball!"
