An estate agent in Dorchester is moving to support Dorset County Hospital Charity’s Cancer Appeal.

Regional estate agents Mayfair Town & Country is getting behind the local hospital and will donate a portion of its fees to the hospital appeal. It will hand over £250 for every house sale that completes through the Poundbury office until the end of 2017.

Mayfair’s staff will also be raising money throughout the year with a programme of ongoing activities, ranging from sponsored walks and afternoon teas, having held the first of these successfully at the end of May.

All of these are designed to spread the message of the Cancer Appeal campaign. It is hoped the overall partnership will assist the appeal in getting closer to the fundraising target of £1.75 million.

The Cancer Appeal will provide a cancer outpatients department on top of the new radiotherapy bunker currently under construction at the hospital, and fund major improvements to the existing chemotherapy unit.

Creating these spaces will transform the experience of cancer patients at the hospital, as well as providing better access to radiotherapy services for patients from North, West and South Dorset.

Laura Bredenkamp, branch manager at Mayfair Town & Country, said: “Having all aspects of cancer treatment care under one roof with outpatients and support facilities available for all affected, will be a fabulous addition to Dorset County Hospital.

“I know people who have had to travel to Poole for cancer treatment and the journey only added to a very stressful and difficult time in their lives.

I am delighted to be supporting this amazing addition to Dorchester’s community.”

Simon Pearson, Head of Fundraising at Dorset County Hospital Charity, said: “We hope this will be the start of a very positive relationship with Mayfair Town and Country. We are working hard to build strong connections with local businesses and the partnership with the Mayfair team will also help us to reach out to the wider community.”
