A MAN suffered head injuries after a lorry overturned.

The A31 was closed in both directions for more than six hours on Monday morning between the A350 Poole Road, Roundhouse Roundabout, and the B3075 turning.

Emergency services were called at 7.20am after the lorry overturned while taking the bend at Stag Gate.

Dorset Police were quick to the scene and officers put road closures in place to allow recovery work to be carried out.

South Western Ambulance Service responded with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.

A man was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester to be treated for a suffering a head injury, although the severity of the injuries are unknown.

The road reopened shortly before 1.30pm and heavy traffic was reported in Sturminster Marshall and Bere Regis.

The lorry appeared to have slid onto its side spilling debris along the side of the road.

On the same morning, traffic was also held up southbound southbound on the A31after a silver Ford Fiesta and a silver Jeep on collided on theA350 shortly after 8am.

The road was partially blocked between southbound between the A31 Roundhouse Roundabout and the turn off for the A354.

Officers attended the crash and the road was cleared at around 11am.

There were no injuries.
