Fourteen people who had been drinking were rescued from a stranded boat.
Lifeboat crews were called shortly before 9pm last night to help a stranded boat with fourteen people on board.
Both Swanage RNLI lifeboats were launched after a call from the UK Coastguard, with reports that the people on board had been ‘drinking heavily’.
The motorboat was found just south of Ballard point near Old Harry Rocks.
The fourteen people were taken onto the deck of the all weather lifeboat whilst the inshore lifeboat towed the motorboat back to Swanage.
Police were called after the fourteen were unable to explain who owned the boat or where they had come from, however a short time later the lifeboat let the people off onto the slipway, and chose not to wait for the arrival of the police.
