OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses following a three-vehicle crash which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

Shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday, June 24 a white Mercedes Sprinter van, a white Ford Connect Transit van and a Royal Enfield motorcycle were in a collision on the B3157.

The crash occurred on the coast road between between Clay Lane and Swyre Road near West Bexington.

The motorcycle rider, a 55-year-old man from Sherborne, was taken to Dorset County Hospital to be treated for a serious leg injury.

Dorset Police have confirmed that the injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

Two fire crews also attended the crash and assisted the ambulance service with casualty care.

The B3157 was temporarily closed on around West Bexington throughout the afternoon causing traffic delays between Swyre and Abbotsbury.

Police Sergeant Craig Tatton, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving or riding of any of the vehicles involved immediately prior to the incident to please contact Dorset Police.”
