A lifeboat has rescued a lone sailor while out training.
The Weymouth all-weather lifeboat was on a routine training exercise in Weymouth Bay when they were tasked by the Coastguard to aid a lone yachtsman last Sunday at 11.15am.
The man was three miles south of Portland Bill and had reported via radio to the coastguard that the yacht had had a rig failure and was experiencing engine problems.
Once on the scene the lifeboat crew established that the sailor was in good health then passed a tow line across and brought the yacht to Portland Marina.
They arrived back at 1.15pm.
