Police investigating a town centre assault on a woman in her 60s have released a CCTV image of the suspect.

At around 1pm on Tuesday, May 16, the victim was walking along South Street in Dorchester when she was barged to the ground by an unknown man outside the Clock House Jewellers.

The man did not stop following the assault and the woman was taken to hospital after suffering a bump to her head. She has suffered hearing issues as a result of the incident.

The woman was helped by a number of road workers who were working at the nearby junction on Weymouth Avenue.

Officers have carried out a number of enquiries with local businesses, including appealing for any CCTV footage that captured the incident.

Police Constable Shane Hewitt, of Dorchester police, said: “I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of the suspect in this case

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man, or who has any further information about this assault, to contact police immediately.”
