Thousands of people poured into Weymouth yesterday as the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival got under way.
The major seafood festival attracted crowds of an estimated 50,000 to the harbourside to taste scrumptious seafood, sip champagne, browse the stalls, and listen to demonstrations from experts in the trade.
As day two of the weekend festival gets underway today’s visitors can expect another packed programme of food tasting and entertainment in the sunshine.
Visitors can hear about the storms faced by Annie Gilbert, one of the UK’s few female commercial fishing skippers, learn some spicy cookery tips from Sarah Ali Choudhury and watch filleting demonstrations from the international seafood guru Duncan Lucas.
On North Quay, Le Cirque du Platzak will be wowing the crowd with their high energy and highly-skilled acrobatic performances.
As with yesterday, motorists are being advised to take note of road closures between 6am and 8pm.
That includes Custom House Quay (from South Parade to Town Bridge) and Trinity Road, Cove Row, Cove Street and Hope Square.
Visitors are also being urged to make use of the park and ride service from Mercery Road which has plenty of car parking spaces and extra bus services running today.
