Weymouth's events and festivals have been given a £20,000 boost.

Haven’s Littlesea Holiday Park has given the money to the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s events team which hosts, supports and promotes more than 200 events and festivals in the area.

The funding comes as Haven Holidays continued its ten-year long partnership with the council’s events team.

In return for the funding, Haven’s branding will be included in the council’s events marketing campaigns.

Kirstie Clark, Caravan Sales Manager at Littlesea Holiday Park, said the park ‘embraced’ the partnership.

She said: “We actively embrace our relationship with the borough council’s events team. We are committed to trying new and innovative schemes to increase business and awareness of our holiday park, we place a high value on this key partnership as it clearly benefits both parties and the community at large.

“Littlesea Holiday Park, part of the Haven brand, welcomes over 20,000 visitors a year who all contribute to the local economy during their stay. We also employ a team of up to 300 people most of whom are local.”

Borough council spokesman for tourism and leisure Councillor Richard Kosior said: “The borough council events team takes great pride in organising, supporting and hosting over 200 events and festivals throughout the year. The team works tirelessly to put on events and the money will help to support them.

“This partnership with Haven Littlesea is a great example of a successful local business with a strong national brand investing and benefitting from the many promotional opportunities made available by the Borough’s impressive annual events and festivals programme.

“I remember the park getting its five-star accolade and have seen it develop over the years. People don’t just stay at the camp, they go to town and spend their money. The partners work well together.”

Haven is currently holding a caravan show in front of the Weymouth Pavillion.

Visitors attending the show will be able to view the same model of caravans available to rent at the Littlesea Holiday Park.

The show will continue until Sunday, August 6 and is open from 10am to 6pm.
