FAMILIES are invited to dance the afternoon away as a party is held at a Weymouth beauty spot.

Party in the Park at Lodmoor County Park is the biggest fundraiser for for Weymouth and Portland’s community radio station AIR 107.2.

Volunteers who run the station hope locals will come out and support them.

There will be golden tickets, treasure hunts, food, drink, giveaways and lots of great music at the free family festival.

Running from 12noon until 7pm on Sunday, August 6, there will be a host of family-friendly activities, a food court, bar, games, craft stalls and even a smoothie bar.

The line-up of talented local musicians includes Milk and Two, Blazin' Strings, Drive by Jammin', Peacock Suit, Toxic Fish, Cuba Libre and Under the Carousel, as well as Pop Club, Chris Bonney and Sister Fitness Clubbercise.

Head of events at AIR 107.2 Venetia Randall said: “It’s on a beautiful site and it has a real festival atmosphere. There’s nothing else like it. It’s one of the best free family days out in Weymouth.”

She added a special thank you to event sponsors Dream Cottages Estates and New Look and thanked the 30-strong volunteer AIR crew who will be helping on the day.

There will be two treasure hunts, and while the children could win a quadcopter, adults can get their hands on a hamper from Chalbury Food & Wine worth £60.

Sponsor New Look has donated vouchers to be given away on the day and everyone will have the chance to buy a golden ticket – with every prize guaranteed to be worth £20 or more.

There will also be a bike park for cycles and dogs are welcome to join in the fun as well. The food court will include pizza, Mexican, crepes and a huge pick and mix.

Although the event is free, the AIR team is hoping people will show their support and buy a special wrist band for £1.

Jen Rodd from the events team said: “Come down and come early and bring a picnic mat. Just stay for an hour and I guarantee you will want to stay longer.”
